In this video, we show how to use the omnibus f4 version 3 flight controller to build an autonomous flight plane. This controller can be found for about 20 euros on aliexpress or banggood.
We use the i-nav configurator to manage the controller. We specifically install the OMNIBUS F4 V3 firmware.
For powering the board, we connect the positive of the battery to the pad labeled BAT, and the negative to the pad that is on the back of the board. For the ESC, we connect the positive to the pad labeled MOTO, and the negative to the one on the back of the board.
This controller supports inverted s-bus digital signal, or PPM analog signal through pin J7. We use the ibus digital signal, from flysky brand. To do this, we use serial port 3 that we find in the J10 connector. We plug the receiver to the controller using a SH cable 1 mm Pin Spacing, with four wires, from which we remove the TX3 line.
We connect the GPS to serial port 1, through the J5 connector. We use a SH cable 1 mm Pin Spacing with four wires.
In the inav, we must conveniently configure the ports for these two devices.
To power the servos, we use the voltage regulated output of the ESC. To do this, we create a pin rail with three rows and five columns. Actually, we only need two rows. The pins of each row are connected to each other, in such a way that the four servos are connected in parallel to the 5-volt output of the ESC. To achieve continuity between rows, we have spun each one with copper wire.
From the ESC, we use the positive and negative to power the pin rail. In this way, we get 5 volts for the servos. The signal cable of the ESC is connected to pin J14 on the board.
We do the same with all servos. We connect the positive and negative wire to the rail, so that servos are fed by the ESC. However, the signal cables of the servos are connected to the pwm signal pins of the controller. We have thus connected 4 servos.
We also connect a buzzer to the J2 pins of the board.
For wiring the camera and video transmitter, there are several options. We have used the simplest one, which is the one shown in the pictures, using pins J16 and J17.
And this is all, thank you.
