One thing that we commonly see in our office is minors named either in a will or as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Did you know that in Washington State, a minor is not competent to inherit anything? If an inheritance is not left to a minor properly, depending on the amount, a guardianship will be required to receive and hold those funds for the minor until they reach the age of 18 (and attorney Darcel Lobo discusses why you may not want a minor to receive their inheritance at age 18).

If you're in Washington State and would like help in getting your estate plan off of your to-do list, give our office a text or call at (206) 408-8158.
