Travertines that are still in formation - Başkale | VAN
Travertine is formed by thermal clay. It is a sulfurous liquid and it comes out in spring in several eyes. But by the end of summer, only one pair of eyes remain. It is located in the Şerefan area at the foot of the Menderesh village of Elbak. The village of Sikanis is also close to here. It is known as Akçali Travertine (Sevkan). It is 70 kilometers away from Elbak district of Van.
