Ever wondered what happens when you crank up the voltage on a 14D471K varistor WAY past its limit?
Well, you're about to find out! It's multimeters at the ready as we take this little device on a thrilling ride with our trusty autotransformer.
Well, you're about to find out! It's multimeters at the ready as we take this little device on a thrilling ride with our trusty autotransformer.
Gear up for the electrifying moment as the varistor begins to puff smoke and its resistance takes a nosedive. When I later checked, the resistance was permanently locked in at a surprising 100 to 200 Ohms for the 3 varistors I put through this trial by fire. So they failed close at 100 - 200 Ohms!
Expect sparks, surprises, and some brown smoke. Ready for the journey? Don't forget to strap in! And remember, don't try this at home! 😉
