In this tutorial, I'll show you how to format the entire contents of an external hard drive using Disk Utility on a Mac. This is necessary if you've just bought a new hard drive and can't copy your files to it. Be sure to choose the correct formatting method, which is ExFAT, so you can use it on both Mac and Windows.
