The beautiful, textured, openwork "Herringbone" pattern can be used for knitting clothes for children and adults.
The pattern repeat is 16 stitches and 10 rows.
For the sample, cast on a multiple of 16 stitches + 1 stitch for symmetry + 2 edge stitches.
