ASM Undergraduate Design Competition (https://www.asmfoundation.org/student... ) is a prestigious competition that provides an excellent opportunity for students to work on exciting real-world problems and showcase their engineering skills, innovative thinking, and teamwork. This year the design team from UF (MSE Department) aims to design, build, and test a sensor for remote detection and identification of volatiles in extra-terrestrial environments. This project would be supporting NASA’s Moon to Mars Planetary Autonomous Construction Technology (MMPACT) project, which is evaluating multiple materials and associated processes for the construction of lunar infrastructure.
