The wind rustles the trees outside. This month has been colder than the last. Frigid air seeps through the cracks in the window frame and kisses my skin. I raise a hand to my cheek and recall warmer days.
Another sleepless night. How many have there been now?... I start counting...
...just one... it was the first one in a while.
I check my analytics on YouTube dot com. The algorithm has picked up another one of my Simpsons Shitposts. Every new subscriber brings with it a twinge of panic. A fear that they may see the rest of my content and be scared off by the real me (or, the version of me that I play on the Internet).
I take a sip of water and mutter to myself, "one video for them, one video for me". A lightbulb goes off. "One video for them, one video for me!" I say again, louder than before. I repeat it once more: "one video for them, one video for me!"
The sound, as usual, reverberates in the empty halls of my apartment.
However, there is a warmth the was not present in the past. A warmth that even the cold air seeping through the windows cannot take away.
Healing.
With renewed confidence, I hit the "upload" button on YouTube dot com.
