In 1980 and 1981, I must've listened to this song 1000 times riding around in Bobby Pearce's El Camino, along with every other song Chris Ledoux was selling on his cassettes. I always thought Ledoux wrote it. Nope. Written by Canadian Ian Tyson. Recorded first by Ian and Sylvia Tyson from the girl's point of view.
