Hi, today I'll tell you and show you how the timing marks on an M111 engine should be. I'm writing this description from the future, 1.5-2 years after filming. I've made several more changes to the engine, as the book confuses how the VANOS should be positioned. I've done a lot of experimenting, and even went for an oscilloscope diagnostic, which ultimately showed that the timing marks should be as I show in this video. The VANOS should be rotated to the right when viewed from the radiator, and to the left when viewed from the camshafts. This is the lag mode! 👈IMPORTANT. There are important points regarding the chain tensioner. Not only does it need to be recharged, but it also needs to be installed at the right time. I won't go into detail about this detail here. I'm preparing a new video on the detailed work of setting timing marks on an M111 engine, which will cover the tensioner. I'll attach the link below. 👇 I'll also leave a link on how to clean the VANOS. It's not complicated. If you're changing the chain or adjusting the timing marks, I'd recommend removing it. Oh, and if your engine is firing, it's not the timing marks. Don't disassemble the engine. I'll attach a link once the video is ready. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.
