Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) act as coenzyme & important part of FAD (flavin adenine dinucleotide) & FMN (flavin mononucleotide). FAD involved in metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, proteins. FMN needed for activation of pyridoxine (B6). Riboflavin occurs in dairy products, meat, whole grains, eggs, green beans, green leafy vegetables, banana, asparagus. Vitamin B3 (Niacin) occurs in 2 forms: Niacin (nicotinic acid) & Niacin amide (nicotinamide, common in blood). Niacin was linked to pellagra in 1937, was prevalent in corn eating communities of Europe as corn has low amount of tryptophan. Niacin is made in the body from tryptophan ( essential amino acid).
