One of the more interesting niches in photography is Infrared. Infrared uses light beyond our visible spectrum, and the film is designed to capture that light. When used properly, it can produce magical images in both B&W and colour. While we lack true IR films today, extended red films and proper filtration can replicate these results pretty close to iconic IR films of the past.
