To be performed:

• Presentation to the patient
• Identity verification (patient identification)
• Proper patient positioning
• Verification of all necessary equipment
• Explanation of the procedure's rationale
• Explanation of the risks involved
• Explanation of the procedure
• Obtaining the patient's verbal consent
• Verifying the absence of contraindications (allergy to local anesthetics)
• Hand disinfection with an alcohol-based hand rub

Technical characteristics of the procedure

• Donning personal protective equipment: gloves, mask, surgical cap, safety glasses, gown
• Selection of equipment: syringe, needle, local anesthetic
• Disinfection of the area: 4-step cleansing
• Local anesthesia
• Inject through the skin to penetrate the hypodermis
• Aspirate with the syringe to ensure the needle is not intravascular
• Inject the anesthetic, respecting the maximum dose
• Careful withdrawal Needle disposal
• Needles, blades, and sharp objects are disposed of in a designated yellow bin before discarding drapes.
