GP-5 Gas Mask Filter replacement
I keep getting asked over and over where I got my safe replacement filters for my Soviet GP-5 Gas Mask, or other Warsaw PACT masks.
You have two easy options to put a safe filter on the GP-5.
If you want something cosmetic that offers no real protection from gas, use a NATO filter and brute force it onto the mask, the STANAG thread doesn't fit completely with a Soviet GOST connector but it will fit well enough that the filter will stay in place and you can breathe through it, some air will get around the filter however.
If you want the mask to function properly, look for GOST ABEK filters or similar, these are modern combination filters that are often sold on eBay as Polish gas mask filters or Russian gas mask filters, you can tell they are the modern safe filters, as they have the ABEK colour markings on the filter and are not the old green or brown colours of the Soviet filters.
