Sialoadenitis is a bacterial infection of the salivary glands that occurs due to obstruction of the salivary ducts by a stone or hyposecretion of the gland. Symptoms include swelling, pain, redness, and tenderness. Diagnosis is based on clinical findings. CT, ultrasound, and MRI are used for diagnostic testing. Treatment includes antibiotics.
