Lacandon Jungle - Wildlife Monitoring: jaguar, tapir, ocelot, among others!
Tres Lagunas, Selva Lacandona is an ecotourism center dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of the rainforest. They also carry out vital conservation projects for large mammals such as the jaguar, tapir, puma, ocelot, and others. I have great admiration for their work. This rainforest is located in southern Mexico and has records of 5 of Mexico's 6 wild cats: jaguar, ocelot, margay, jaguarundi, and puma (the only one not recorded is the bobcat, Lynx rufus).
I'm so happy to have spent a few days there, and in this video, I'll share my experience working at the center and helping out as staff in a Wildlife Monitoring Course organized by my friends ♡
I had the opportunity to set up one of my camera traps, and the results were incredible! I was able to walk the trails with Eduardo Chankin, a Lacandon Maya man and a very wise and kind person. I also want to thank my unwavering travel partner, Kike from Pajareando Ando, for being there for every moment of the trip.
