Link's Awakening was released in 1993, with DX being released in 1998. It is the first Handheld Zelda game. Although it clearly takes a lot from Zelda 1 and A Link to the Past, it has a unqiue identity distinct from anything else in the series so far. Join me in this restrospective of The Evolution of Zelda as we review Link's Awakening.

The Evolution of Zelda is a series where I'll be playing every Zelda game in release order and reviewing how each game evolves from the last. Having played very few games in the series previously, it's a huge blind spot for me that I've never experienced before.
