How to create box panels when you don’t have a dieline in Adobe® Illustrator® // Real life example
Here is a simple process for creating a box dieline in Adobe Illustrator.
1. Create rectangle shapes for your 4 box panels (Rectangle tool, M key on Mac) (0:48)
2. At least 2 of the box panels are the same so you can duplicate them across your artboard (1:25)
3. Set the keyboard increment (cmd + K on Mac) and use the Direct Selection tool and Transform panel to adjust panel sizes (1:58)
4. Adjust artboard size (2:38)
5. Add dimensions to your box panels to indicate panel lengths (2:50)
6. Save your document as Illustrator or PDF (5:24)
Best practice tip: a high quality PDF file containing simple graphics is usually under 1MB.
