In this session, the Care Quality Commission provided an overview of its new role in assessing local authorities and integrated care systems. They considered the opportunities this presents and looked at how they can improve outcomes and reduce inequalities.
They focused on the scope and content of the assessment framework, and discussed what an assessment looks like in practice: what evidence we use, how we gather it, which staff, leaders and partners will be involved?
The team were joined by Louise Broddle, Head of Fitness to Practise Investigations at Social Work England to consider the role of social workers in the assessments, what this means for social workers and how they can prepare.
