Taro is the oldest male gorilla in Japan.
He was born in Germany on April 20, 1973, and came to Japan Monkey Centre at the age of 15.
JMC is about an hour away from Higashiyama Zoo (where Shabani Troop lives) by train.
Taro used to live with female Hanako, but has lived alone since Hanako had passed away in 2009.
