Todays starship showcase is the U.S.S Defiant. The Defiant was originally designed as a warship to combat the Borg threat. It was the first Starfleet ship built primarily for combat rather than exploration. Assigned to Deep Space Nine to counter the Dominion threat, the Defiant was equipped with advanced weaponry, including phaser cannons and quantum torpedoes, and had a cloaking device authorized by the Romulan Star Empire for use in the Gamma Quadrant.
