My First Unreal Project (Devlog #1) October Interactive Landscape Overhaul
Trying a Devlog with this video where we recap everything that was added for the month of October. I'm calling the October Update "The Interactive Landscape Update."
=======================MISC CHANGES=======================
-Finished up most of the functionality for the crafting system both player and crafting benches, we can see in the video there are still some bugs to sort out.
Added random loot chests (consumable & weapon tier 1s)
-Added foundation for bow and torch mechanics
-Added inventory functionality for rings, necklaces, backpacks, bows, torches.
-Fixed up the HUD with new padding, alignment, icons for buttons, and functionality.
-Added advanced hunger system with protein, carbs, fats, vitamins.
-Added experimental regeneration system.
-Added over a dozen profession skills along with overall player level. Added xp gain system for most skills. Still need to add bonuses for having lvls in a skill.
===============INTERACTIVE LANDSCAPE CHANGES===============
-Adding choppable trees with tree fall down and respawn (10 varieties with different amounts of total wood)
-Added mineable rocks that respawn(copper, tin, iron, and 4 stone varieties with different amounts of total stone) Also added several gems and random loot chance to mine a gem when mining any type of rock.
-Added harvestable dirt mounds that respawn (clay, sand, mud varieties)
-Added hand harvestable bushes that respawn (6 varieties with different amounts of total plant fiber) Added sickle multiplier harvest functionality
-Added hand harvestable edibles (random respawn with chance at better edibles to respawn) Added sickle multiplier harvest functionality.
-Added small hand harvestable sticks and stones (give 1 wood or 1 stone)
-Redid all grass with big performance boost.
-First pass at performance improvements with all trees and bushes (30-40fps in densest parts of forest)
-Added ambient sound to entire map
