Circles Around the Son – Kim Kredich
This song was 20 years in the making from Ben's diagnosis of autism at age 2 1/2 to the point where he was able to live independently at his post-secondary inclusive college experience at the University of Tennessee's FUTURE Program. Ben's mother, Kim, created her "Floortime Song for Ben" as a reminder and representation of the DIR/Floortime approach that Ben's family utilized to connect, coax, and communicate with Ben throughout his life. Tragically, this song was publicly debuted at Ben's Celebration of Life ceremony on August 27, 2023 after Ben was killed by an impaired driver while walking on a Knoxville sidewalk toward downtown. Ben heard and enjoyed "his" song many times since its completion in 2021 and understood the "circles of communication" that allowed us to follow his lead and help him reach his full potential. Beloved son and brother, we share this song... with you.
