About Yermak, everyone has already spoken, and all sorts of theories have been put forward. Nevertheless, I consider it necessary to speak out on this topic, especially since we've already touched on this issue in one way or another in other films. Perhaps someone has already voiced the thoughts expressed further in this film. As the saying goes, repetition is the mother of learning.
Our film will be less about Yermak himself, and more about what he conquered there and the purpose of this sacred sacrifice. The issue of Yermak's so-called "conquest" of Siberia has become particularly relevant recently, as some political strategists (especially Western ones) are exploiting this theme, playing the nationalist card and attempting to provoke Siberia's separation from Russia, leading Siberians to believe that Muscovy seized Siberia by force and, therefore, modern Russia allegedly holds the Siberian expanses in illegitimate possession.
This is precisely why official historical circles are silent about Siberia's ancient Slavic origins, instead cultivating the theme of Moscow's "conquest" of Siberia. Moreover, not only Western historians, but also our own (both official and many alternative) historians, by adhering to the viewpoint of Yermak's "conquest" of Siberia (or the Muscovite conquest of Tartary), are playing into the hands of our state's enemies.
