The battle of Tres De Abril in Cebu
At 5 o'clock in the morning of April 4th, the revolutionary forces successfully ousted the Spanish governor, General Montero, along with the Spanish volunteers, towards Fort San Pedro, thereby gaining control of the city of Cebu. Subsequently, on April 5th, they liberated the Barangay of Carcar. When the gunboat Maria Cristina exploded, the revolutionaries fled to the Chinese quarter of Lutao. On April 7th, under the leadership of General Tejeiro, 500 individuals from the 73rd Native Regiment and the Spanish cazadores arrived, accompanied by the cruiser Don Juan de Austria, causing the revolutionaries to retreat to San Nicolas.
