I've installed several of these over the years in various houses and they've all lasted many years and given great service with no trouble. You really don't think about your disposal until you're without one! The ease of installation will vary quite a bit from one situation to the next. If it's a new installation, you'll have to do some extra work installing the mounting flange onto your sink. It's not difficult but will take some additional time, though. In my case, I'll be replacing a Badger 9 garbage disposal, and it looks like the flange is in good shape and the same design, so I may be able to screw the new one right onto the existing flange. You definitely will want to turn off the electricity at the breaker box for this job if you're hardwiring your unit. Some basic wiring and plumbing skills are required, but nothing too difficult for the DIYer. I would suggest reading the directions all the way through, before beginning. A nice Saturday afternoon job just about anyone can do.
