Gil Rigoulet begins his career in the press in 1975 and in early 1980s he started to collaborate with Le Monde newspaper in France where he was over 20 years. In 1985, he created with Henri Cartier-Bresson a supplement for Le Monde, “Portrait of a Daily Life”.
In parallel with his press photography, he has made street photography in Europe, North America and Asia.
In 1986, Robert Doisneau presents the pictures of Gil in a portfolio of the Photo-Magazine and Christian Caujolle invites him to the collective exhibition and the book "Living in swimsuit" at the Deligny pool, with Joseph Koudelka, Marc Riboud, Claude Nori, William Klein, Helmut Newton, Jean Loup Sieff, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Mary Ellen Mark, Franco Fontana.
