In 2014 Andersonville's iconic Swedish flag water tower was removed as it was in disrepair. The water tower was an icon of the local neighborhood and the community rallied to have a new water tower build in its place. On the 8th of August 2017, a new water tower made of fiberglass and steel was placed where the original once stood. Although this one will not hold water, it will fill the 3-year-old vacant spot where the old tank lived.
