When asked about his composition, Thomas states: "I learned rather quickly that a lone guitar was not easily going to drown a concert hall in a dense, rich noise. This wasn’t a disappointing discovery: the intimacy of its sound complements the close listening philosophy of the electroacoustic outlook. Solo guitar acts a great medium within this context, being the opposite to overambitious electronic sound. However upon amplification and treatment, the difference in sonority and presence between the two versions of the instrument could be the pair that contrasts the most".
I commissioned this piece from my good friend Thomas back at the beginning of 2019 and we instantly began exploring the different sonic and textural capacities of the guitar. We were looking to incorporate a spectrum of sound that explores different textures and their evolution.
