3-gallon fabric grow bags might be costing you your entire tomato harvest — here's what a full growing season taught me.
I spent this whole season fighting fabric grow bags and I'm done. In this video I'm breaking down the 3 real reasons I won't be using small grow bags for tomatoes again: root binding, water retention failure, and why they make organic feeding nearly impossible.
🌱 What's covered:
• Root binding — your plant completely fills a 3-gallon bag and stops producing
• Water retention — black fabric absorbs heat and dries out in hours (I was watering twice a day in 90°F heat)
• Nutrient application — once the bag is full, there's no room to top-dress with compost the way organic growers need to
If you're growing without synthetics, small grow bags make everything harder. My recommendation: go 5-gallon minimum, or better yet, grow in-ground.
