I invite you to a place once considered the most dangerous in Hong Kong. Chungking Mansions was built in the 1960s and was then the tallest building in Hong Kong, an exclusive apartment building where everyone wanted to live. Over time, the apartments began to be rented out, divided into small units, and thus mini-hotels emerged. One apartment, one hotel. Gradually, this place became a center of lawlessness, where illegal trade and prostitution were rampant. Repeated police raids resulted in numerous arrests, primarily of illegal immigrants. Several murders were committed here.
How did the building stand to this day, and on one of Hong Kong's most prestigious streets? What does it look like today?
See for yourself.
