On today’s show, Luke Barnett joins me to chat about his career in filmmaking, the new short he directed, and how he’s thinking about the festival circuit.

1. You’re a writer, an actor, and recently—just like me—a first-time director. Tell me some more about your career. How did you get started and how has your career progressed?
2. What was your first directing experience like? What’d you learn from it?
3. What are you hoping will come from this film?
4. In February or March, I’ll be thinking about what to do with our film, No Vacancy. I can put it on YouTube. I can submit it to festivals. I can use it as a calling card. And I can combine some of those options. You’re a little ahead of me. How are you approaching this decision and how has your thinking changed as you’ve learned more about how this work?
5. What’s next? What’s your next project and what do you hope your career looks like five years from now?
