GF: Last question is around being up to date and particularly individuals in your areas. How important is it, given demand is now very high for Security and DevOps professionals for these people to be up to date with new certifications, to push for new certifications, to use different methodologies? How important is all that now, Danny?
DH: Yes, absolutely. Cyber Security specifically would be the one that would definitely come to mind from a candidate perspective and from a client perspective. Clients (employers) need to see that candidates have the attitude of professional development, whether it’s more the start of their career, where they’re at their CompTIA Security+ level or they’re going down the certified ethical hacker route, whether they’re at more advanced levels of CISSP. Even if they haven’t attained the certification but they’re in process of pursuing it, they have an interest in developing their skillset constantly. That’s something that is definitely valued hugely by employers. It’s definitely something I look out for when I’m speaking to candidates, “okay, what certifications have you? When have you actually attained those? Are they expired? Have you renewed them etc?” That would definitely be something that I would be looking out for and so would the clients.
