In this video we determine experimentally and mathematically the oscillation duration (period) and the oscillation frequency of a thread pendulum.
The 0.8 m long pendulum consists of a thin string and a cup as a mass.
Since the oscillation frequency does not depend on the amplitude, we can determine a relatively precise value from several oscillations.
(How to make a string pendulum at home - easy way)
(Physics experiment - How to + Test)
(Build a thread pendulum yourself for physics?)
Required materials:
String, cup, ruler / tape measure / folding rule
In the video, oscillation duration T and oscillation frequency f are first determined experimentally and then by calculation. It can be seen that the pendulum moves sinusoidally and the amplitude decreases exponentially according to the damped oscillation.
