Description: If you are a developer, you are no doubt seeing the big data technologies space become more fragmented with more industry-specific, data-specific, introductory, or advanced solutions. Have innovations specifically relating to Hadoop or NoSQL truly spurred the rise of big data technologies? How "interoperable" do these big data solutions need to be? Geoff Hendrey is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Vertascale. Geoff's previous companies included Gravitate, a pioneer in social networking and location search. Geoff has eight patents in algorithms and data mining, social networking and location based services, and has spoken to technical audiences at Java One and AJAX World. Geoff served as the co-chair of the OGC's Open Location Services working group and was instrumental in the development of the OpenLS mobile location services standard. Geoff holds an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Bio: Jonathan Gray is an entrepreneur and software engineer with a background in startups, open source and all things data. Prior to founding Continuuity, Jonathan was a software engineer at Facebook where he drove HBase engineering efforts, including Facebook Messages and several other large-scale projects from inception to production. An open source evangelist, Jon was responsible for helping build the Facebook engineering brand through developer outreach and refocusing the open source strategy of the company. Jonathan was an early adopter of Hadoop and HBase and is a core contributor and active committer in the community.

Josh is CEO and founder of wise.io, a machine-learning company that makes it easy for companies to build machine intelligence directly into their "Big Data" workflow. He is also an astronomy professor at the University of California, Berkeley where he teaches Python for data scientists. Josh has been awarded the prestigious Pierce Prize from the American Astronomical Society; he is also a former Sloan Fellow, Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society, and Hertz Foundation Fellow. He holds a PhD from Caltech and degrees from Harvard and Cambridge. He serves on the newly constituted Berkeley Startup Cluster Advisory Committee.
