In & Out of Japan, 18-2-2014 in EYE
On the 18th February 2014 EYE presented experimental films by expat Japanese filmmakers. Ranging from the poetic to the abrasive, the films resonate with one another along themes of travel and discovery as well as an aesthetic preoccupation with the frame. The programme included a bicycle-cinema presentation by Amsterdam's Pirate Cinema, a re-enactment of Takahiko Iimura's 1963 expanded cinema performance SCREEN PLAY and introductions by curator Julian Ross.
