Program Notes:
This is a piece written in 2004 for the Ensemble Club of Kumamoto Prefectural School for the Blind. It tells the story of the tragic heroine active in the latter part of the Hundred Years' War between England and France. From the revelation at the beginning to the requiem at the end, please create your own vision of Joan of Arc. The timpani exchange that begins at measure 33 will sound different in the audience depending on placement, so please use your creativity in the setup.
