Down With The Monarchy! | Republicanism And The Struggle For Socialism
The British Monarchy, despite all the rhetoric and the illusions that are fed to us by the British establishment about their so-called "Royal Duties", are not to be celebrated, they are to be abolished and gotten rid of along with the Capitalist system in Britain entirely.
Enormous care is taken to maintain the glamour that surrounds this horrible hereditary institution in a big effort to distract the working people of Britain from the class oppression that they face because behind the flamboyant image that the media have manufactured around the Royals and outside the palaces, there is the rottenness of an entire system; a whole country of people who live in the harsh reality of Capitalist hegemony and barbarity, who are beaten down and exploited for the profits of the rich.
While the brutal policies of austerity that have been implemented by the British state on behalf of the Capitalist class have led to the immense shortages of public sector services and the needless amounts of deaths of working people, with many also being forced to the mercy of foodbanks and thrown into homelessness - the Royals, meanwhile, are living luxurious lives and remain incredibly secretive about everything that they do, as they are beyond reach of the Freedom of Information Act.
The Royals also meddle in politics and they’re a total waste of public money, costing the taxpayer an average of £345 million a year.
Yet, the arguments provided by monarchists to try and justify the existence of this parasitic Feudal relic are all built on complete and utter fallacies which have no evidence to them whatsoever.
