“Call of the Void” is probably the most fuzz-laden and heaviest track we have written yet. It explores the irrational and unanticipated urge to take a leap into the abyss, whether one is on top of a cliff, on board a ship, or driving a car approaching another. Sometimes this phenomenon makes it even impossible to be in any of the aforementioned situations at all. While it never really is a craving for death, the sheer maelstrom of this thought and its implications are hard to handle, and thus the song transports this feeling throughout.
The song begins with a heavy, repetitive riff accompanied by wistful vocals and soon leads into the chorus, which begins with the line “It's the call of the void, it's the scream for the sky!” and further describes the theme of the song: “It's the maelstrom of doom it's the end of the line/the immediate urge, are you going to fly/or are you calling a truce on the war in your mind?”. The chorus ends with a wah-wah lick, which, together with ethereal sounds and a guitar line that both seem to come from the void, leads back into the intro riff. After the next chorus, the song suddenly shifts gears and enters a musical limbo that begins with softer drum beats and an accompanying bass line. A little later, a now cleaner guitar with an intense echo effect playing arpeggios enters. This section initially calms all previous emotions, but then slowly creeps up on the listener, reintroducing the desperation and restlessness of the phenomenon as it works towards the next escalation in the following bridge. The song ends with another, even bigger chorus, followed by the legato lick heard earlier, which leads to the song's resolution. This is orchestrated by a slowly fading tape echo, hinting at the potential fading of the „Call of the Void“.
