About I RIDE HORSES (from Carishma):
This record is very special to me because it’s meaning is rooted in female empowerment. It highlights the importance of self love, self care, and of being confident in owning your feminine power.
But just like life and the human experience, this song is multi-layered in meaning. It’s not just physical, it’s emotional, mental, and spiritual, too.
Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Meaning:
The record is about not settling in life and going for the highest hanging fruit. Metaphorically, you’re not going to settle for a pony, you’re going to strive for a stallion. The universe only gives us what we think we’re worthy of receiving.
Physical Meaning:
The song is about courageously expressing your feminine power and honoring the art of sexual expression. This doesn’t mean sleeping around, quite the opposite. It’s about the journey of finding yourself and what you like before giving yourself to someone else - emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically.
In modern day society, anything sexual is usually delivered from the male perspective and there is a lack of mutual sexual respect and equality between men and women. Throughout media and interpersonal culture, society still dominantly presents women as being submissive to men, with women going out of their way to make sure the man is taken care of. The focus is heavily on male pleasure, rather than on female and male pleasure, equally. Women need to be honored, too; and I believe that men not only need to honor women’s sexual needs, but to be a proponent of them, as well.
My Personal Experience:
I’ve been through a roller coaster of experiences in my life so far. In relationships, I’ve learned a lot through my relationships with others, and a lot about the relationship I have with myself.
Society puts a lot of pressure on women to find a man and settle down.
Sometimes, you need to press pause on that pressure to figure out who you are and who you want to be first; to learn how to love being with yourself first. After all, the person you’re going to spend the most time with in life, is you. And while you’re on that journey, you need to figure out what you like sexually on your own first before giving yourself to someone else. Hopefully once you find that, you find a real man who’s going to honor you and SEE you. Someone who is a true partner and an equal.
Because of this, I Ride Horses.
