HELLO THERE lovely people❤.
CHECK out this huge tick that i've found on a ferral cat's skin.
I MADE SURE to get rid of it.
INFO: These ticks are called Haemaphysalis & belong to the family of Ixodidae (hard ticks or scale ticks). they are known to transmit tick borne illnesses (by their bite and blood sucking mechanism), like Lyme disease, ricketessia and more.
Diseases like these can cause diverse effects on the body.
They are treated by a specific type of antibiotics that suit the type of bacteria that entered the body from the tick. Sometimes, people get infected with differrent types of bacteria at the same time from the same tick. Sometimes differrent types of viruses are transmitted too.
Some of the symptoms vary, and it is important to know these two major signs, High fever for unkown reason and pralyisis.
It is important to seek professional help if you suspect a tick bite/ a disease from a tick.
In comparison to a flea that can jump very high, and is very small in size and fast, ticks can vary in size and they can not jump and they are slow. Both can cause itching and red bites. They both can cause diseases when fleas can cause typhus and plague.
IF YOU HAVE PETS, MAKE SURE TO TREAT YOUR PETS TO PREVENT THEM FROM BEING A HOST TO FLEAS AND TICKS. Consult your Vetrenarian for any questions.
