Another example of how "status" on the road outweighs the letter of the law. A high-profile accident is being discussed in Novorossiysk: the driver of a black Land Cruiser veered into oncoming traffic, rammed a law-abiding driver, and simply fled the scene.
It would seem obvious: a traffic violation, a hit-and-run, serious consequences. According to the law, leaving the scene of an accident carries a license suspension of one to one and a half years or arrest for up to 15 days. However, the culprit escaped with only a minor fine for "improper position on the roadway."
How is this possible in 2024? The question of fairness and permissiveness on the roads remains open.
