Watch This Before You Buy A Submariner!
Before buying a Submariner for way over the list price, take a look at the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m. This, in my opinion, is one of the best luxury watches that you can buy. It comes in well under $10,000, has tons of different color and style options, and it is by far one of the best-made dive watches on the market.

As far as dive watches go, the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m has become one of the primary go-to watches over the last few years. In many ways, this has been due to the lack of availability of the Rolex Submariner.
Thus, many people, myself included, have opted to look at other watches in this category, and they end up buying an OMEGA Seamaster.
I chose a blue and gold on a rubber strap reference 210.22.42.20.03.001. This watch had a similar style to my dream Rolex Submariner. However, I was about to purchase this watch brand new from OMEGA with the original box, papers, and a full warranty.
On top of that, as I looked more and more into OMEGA as a brand, I realized that they had just as rich of a history as Rolex and, in some cases, even had better mechanics.
For example, the OMEGA Caliber 8800 is one of the best movements watchmaking has ever seen, and the specs speak for themselves, boasting a 55-hour power reserve, 35 jewels, and magnetic resistance of up to 15,000 gauss.
This has all been said without even mentioning the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m's price. This watch, when I purchased it, was just $5,200, but today, the retail price has increased to $7,200. I do believe it is worth that price, though, as you still can't purchase new Submariners, and if you could, their retail price is $14,700 for an equivalent watch.
Now, while I do love the OMEGA Seamaster, I still do have a few gripes about it.
First off is the rubber band that OMEGA shipped this watch on. There are two band options for my Seamaster Diver 300m. The first is a gold and stainless steel band. The second is a blue rubber strap.
I went with the rubber strap, and I was honestly disappointed. While it does look great on the watch, the strap pulled the hairs on my wrist and sweated like crazy when you were doing anything active. Luckily, this was an easy fix, and I've been running a blue NATO on this watch since about a week after I bought it.
The other downside is actually the weight and size of this watch. Now, since purchasing my Seamaster, I have learned that I actually enjoy smaller watches over large watches. The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m is 42mm, and that high-end movement doesn't make it light either.
This means that I do actually feel like this watch is weighing down my arm at times. I also find myself occasionally removing it while I'm working at the office due to its shear size and weight. This, however, is more a personal complaint than it is something most people will be concerned with.
Overall, the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m is, in my honest opinion, the perfect dive watch for those who are getting into luxury watches.
If you've had a few watches already and you own a Rolex Submariner, I'd also encourage you to check out the Seamaster Diver 300m. It really is an amazing watch, and it will probably impress you. I know it did me.
