There aren't many cars that ride with the same hopes & dreams that the XC40 does. Volvo's first-ever compact SUV, the XC40 rode into the fray knowing that it had a fight on its hands, and it was a fight where it had to emerge within the top finishers, if not victorious, in order to even make a dent in the hotly-contested premium-compact SUV space.
However, it seems that the XC40 has done just that. With multiple awards under its belt (including the title of Malaysia's best premium compact SUV of 2019 from the Malaysian Car of the Year Awards) as well as a waiting list (a first for a Volvo in Malaysia), the Volvo XC40 appears to have established itself in the marketplace with confidence and conviction. So we take it out for a spin to see if all that hype and all that favour is rightfully deserved.
