When we bought our old massive steel vessel we had a lot of water in the bilge. About 1200l !
So we emptied it and checked regularly if it fills up again. And it didn’t.
But while preparing this video, we checked the bilge one more time and found a lot of water down there.
Yes we know the title: is our ship sinking? sounds a bit like clickbait.
And no we are not sinking. At least not right now!
However we really have a leak somewhere. And even though we are not sinking here and now, we need to find the leak and fix it.
We guess the water is probably coming in from some leaking rivets or the stuffing box.
So stay tuned for some more bilge water content soon. 😉
Anyway we are so glad that we finally started the first projects.
A big inspiration on our boat search were Leo Sampson Goolden with Tally Ho and Sail Life with refitting Athena.
Both are refitting or rebuilding projects.
And we always dreamed of our own ship restoration project.
Now we took the first steps on our DIY ship project and there still is a lot to come …

Just to give you an overview what this channel is all about.
We bought this massive steel trawler.
Which once was a tall Ship.
On the long run we plan to converter her back into a topsail schooner.
The timeframe for that will be 5 to 10 Years.
So we are in for a long journey.
But we already use this ship as our home.
So you can expect videos about projects, about traveling and about living on a floating refit.
