The Time-Scribe device was created by John Ives in 1984 at the Montreal Neurological Institute in Montreal Canada. The device uses varying voltages to drive the pen of a chart recorder to write simulated numeric digits on the paper representing a time stamp. The device became obsolete with the advent of digital EEG technology.
