Restoration Antique Hatchet
Today i show you how i transformed my old hatchet into a modern hatchet.
For many years I have kept all the old hatchets and axes I find in a basket, with the idea of fixing them all sooner or later.
I started by fixing this hatchet from Valsecchi, it is a very old hatchet, on the blade there is the Valsecchi brand and the royal crown, I read that it could be dated from the First World War.

As you can see, the hatchet was unusable, the handle completely damaged and unrecoverable, attached with some screws and nails, bent and eaten by woodworms.
I started by cleaning the rust off the blade and bringing it to sharp iron and then polishing it later.
I made the handle from a piece of Beech wood, I had a lot of fun in carving a block of wood and creating a unique piece. It is the first hatchet handle that I carve and I must say that I am very happy with the final result. Let me know what you think in the comments.
