Enjoy Hanami at Mukai Farm and Garden
Us tree huggers love a good tree fact! Did you know in Japanese there’s a word for viewing the cherry blossoms in spring? It’s Hanami!
Our friends at @mukaifarmandgarden on Vashon Island, Washington, have restored the traditional Japanese stroll garden of the Mukai family for all to enjoy. The garden was originally designed and installed by Kuni Mukai in the 1930s, complete with stunning sakura, or, as you may know them, cherry blossoms. It’s the only known Japanese garden of this era designed by a woman and exists today due to the restoration and stewardship of the Friends of Mukai.
Mukai Farm and Garden is a vibrant gathering place that tells the story of Vashon’s rich Japanese American and agricultural heritage. Their programming is a fun and diverse offering of Japanese American culture to be enjoyed, learned from, and supported by all.
