Feast of St. Stephen
 
The gates of heaven were opened for blessed Stephen,
who was found to be first among the number of the Martyrs
and therefore is crowned triumphant in heaven. (Entrance Antiphon)
 
On this Feast of St. Stephen, the first Martyr in stark contrast to yesterday we move from contemplating an earthly birth to a heavenly birth.  Because of the birth of Jesus, the reality of death is transformed in hope, because as St. Paul reminds us Hope does not disappoint!

Bishop Fintan Monahan of Killaloe Diocese has created a series of short, spiritual, reflective videos providing insightful thoughts and reflections on our celebration of various aspects of the faith, prayer, spirituality, scripture, tradition, the Paschal Mystery and many related topics. Many of the videos reflect on the core events and ideas of our faith. As Christians we are people of great hope!
