**So I get the same question allllll the time. "Pete, whats the best mic I can buy for under $1000??" My answer to this question involves 4 microphones you can buy for under $1000 (or thereabouts). I tell my students and subscribers to go out and put 4 mics in your locker for the price of one $1000 mic. Why? In my opinion this is the smartest and most logical way to start building a mic locker that is going to give you 3-4 different options of great sounds mics. My suggestions include 2 large diaphragm condensers, a ribbon and a dynamic mic.
